9 Combustible Dust Explosions so far in 2008

The always awesome OSHA Underground blog points to a nice Google map of all the combustible dust explosions in 2008. Just 50 days into the year, there’s been 9 combustible dust explosions. Each marker on the map has information about each incident.

Dockman of the VesselTrax blog made this map. Thanks for the great work!

    Thanks Michael,

I’d just like to set the record straight regarding the explosion and fires on the Goolge Map. So far it hasn’t been throughly confirmed that dust caused the fire or explosion. Only that dust is present in the work pace where the unfortunate event occurred.

Historically, in 50% of incidents the cause cannot be fully determined due to the destructive damage destroying the exact cause and ignition points.

I need everyone’s help on this throughout the nation. If anyone knows of any fire or explosion in your regional area that occurred at a workplace and mention in the news reports that the facility generates dust, then please forward a link of the story to me so I can include it in the Google Map.

    Thanks,

    Dockman
